Arky is back from ....

Hi Friends, After my computer went up in flames ... I was shocked .. I recovered Then I brought a replacement ... it went up in flames too ... I cried n cried And Then the Bangalore Electrical Engineers came and replaced one of high tension wires in the building where I currently stay.So, if this borrowed computer doesn't meet the same fate of its dead friends I would *now* be active on mailing-list again. IIsc Attacked, Gunmen kill a professor in Indian Institute Hall where a conference on Operation Research a Prof.Puri and three in serious condition and the area is cordoned off. A live bomb is rumored to be found in the campus. [Arts/Film]3-day film workshop @ Suchirta

Greetings List, A 3 day Film making workshop titled 'Lecture Demonstration on Fundamentals of Film making' is starting tomorrow morning(28 dec 2005) at 9 Am @ Suchitra Film Society.It has limited intake of 20 candidates and cost you Rs 1500/-. It involves the complete overview of film making and also has outdoor shot. Victor Basu whom I met Goeth-Institut(Max Mueller Bhavan) told me that there are couple of seats available if you can reach the venue in the morning.Yes, yes I should have informed the film buff's in our lot before (a thousand pardons, friends). Morning Friends, Just snipped the old news dating back July 2005 on our website(http://bangalore.gnu.org.in), please kindly help all of us by maintaining the pages,correcting the spelling mistakes and adding news (FN, Please check the news about e-Governance Conference). There are a lot of pages that help people finding resources about gnu/Linux, indian software projects, finding CD's and an active campaign. Prav, Can you please update the minutes of the previous meeting so that folks who missed them can keep track of developments. The whole reason for having a Wiki for our website is that the site can be updated by anyone, anytime. Please make the best use of it. Hi, Minutes of Dec 10 BoF by FOSS EDU IN group Please join the discussion on the wiki http://fci.wikicities.com/wiki/BoFs/Education/Dec10-2005 - Creation of a FOSS course material - Consortium for FOSS training consortium - a group of people, countries, companies, etc. who are working together on a particular project: - Building local communities in different campuses - A GNUsletter on to update every months activities. - Creation of technical content - Selecting FOSS projects which students can take up as academic projects - Broadband internet for students This was a very interesting point. As high speed internet connection is a must for foss development we should offer it for interested students as scholarships (comapnies like Redhat/Novell/Google/HP/IBM .... can offer it -- It costs just Rs 250 per month per student) - FOSS centeres in colleges (Eg: IITB) in association with companies were students get all the facilities for foss development. - FOSS campaigns in schools As most of the colleges are having exam season we are looking for schools in the mean time as targets. Hi, Tomo 3.00pm is the FOSS-EDU meet at (PESIT) Tea House. Its near DevegowdaPetrol Bunk a few meters from Sagar Apollo Clinic. There is a Planet Bajaj Showroom too. Tea House is some 2-3kms from Banashankari Bus Terminal. Its a straight drive from Banashankari Bus Terminal on Ring Road ( 100 ft). Landmark is DEVEGOWDA PETROL BUNK where tea house is located. This petrol bunk is a very popular landmark. It will take some 20 mins from Jaynagar to reach there. If u are coming from MG Road area, take the Mysore Road FlyOver so that you dont get confused. Come straight on Mysore Road and then take a left to Ring Road. The focus is how to involve students in the FOSS process.
