How to shift to old kernel in fedora 9

Hi I have problem in installing Wireless card (DLink 520GL, RT61) in fedora 9, which will work fine on ubuntu. After searching on google i came to know that this card does not support kernel versions 2.6.19x and above. what is the command to change the latest kernel of fedora 9 to older version 2.6.19 and below. thanks sm

BeleniX 0.7.1 update release available

Hello All, The first update to the 0.7 release is now available. Give it a try and provide us the feedback. Download location : http://www.belenix.org/download (torrent is not yet available. will be available soon) Bugs/Feature Requests may be logged at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=216118 This update brings in the latest development OpenSolaris build 93, updates to KDE 3.5.9, firefox 3.0.1, ability to create zones among other changes, bugfixes. This release includes the latest Caiman installer due to which upgrades from this release will become possible going forward. Complete list of changes: * Based on ON Build 93 that has new drivers (like ATIgfx) among other stuff. * Included the rum driver. * Nvidia driver updated to 173.14.05. * OSS updated to 4.0-1016. * Updated Fully Open X bits. * KDE updated to 3.5.9 and some upstream patches removed * Firefox 3.0.1 * /sbin/sh is now ksh93. * Sham's RAM based Boot integrated. In Grub screen select more options to see that boot option. Install from RAM is possible and is *fast*. See Sham's Blog for details (http://blogs.sun.com/sham/entry/belenix_0_7_can_boot). * Caiman Installer updated to current version. Grub boot entries for Windows partitions are now automatically added. Detecting Linux partitions is a work in progress. * Added PowerTOP. * Added XVM PV drivers to support booting inside domU. * Qt 3.x is now built in both 32Bit and 64Bit versions. * Gtk-Qt3 is fixed to build with proper Solaris build flags so the nagging warning about /proc/.../cmdline does not appear. * Updated man pages to new release. * OpenMotif updated to fix some brokenness. * Ability to create zones via ZFS snapshots. However, this is not yet an IPS repository. * OpenSolaris G11N packages now available in the repository. * Setting is applied during install to trim ZFS ARC to 50% of RAM if there is 1GB RAM or less. Inaugural of Ambedkar Community Computer Center

All, Yesterday I attended the opening ceremony of Ambedkar Community Computer Center. The center is a volunteer effort from AID and Sthree Jagruthi Samithi providing free computer training to any young child in the area. There are many reasons why this event is path breaking, but their efforts in using GNU and Linux to teach the youth just goes to show that Free Software has now reached a maturity and ease of use that everyone claimed was a barrier to entry. A few years ago, everyone said Free Software was only a niche and could not cater to the general public. Well, what our friends have shown is this is quite not the case anymore. Children as young as 7 years work with computers and Free Software and understand how. I saw with some amazement that a young child of 10 (sorry don't have his name) start his computer and give a demonstration of his work without a single hitch. It was quite humbling to learn the difference in hardware and software as body and soul which he described with the help of a stand-in volunteer. There was a time when the screen paused for a second, and this kid did not blink; using the function key to reload the screen! For that this whole community needs to be congratulated. I guess any other child his age would have run to his tutor for support. Although there were many heroes for the day from among the AID volunteers and Sthree Jagruthi Samithi, this young man was the hero of the day. And the beauty of the approach in this center is that children are being taught to dig down and learn computing from the basics and by experimentation. By adopting Free Software, this center is teaching some higher goals of freedom and community participation (in learning and teaching) that Stallman would be proud of. They are being taught that software is not necessarily a black box that only a few can master or that the restrictions places on by big capital to prevent unrestricted access to computers and computing devices are not the only way forward. One day in the near future, these children will go into their own and profess the freedoms to build and use software as they choose and not as others have chosen for them. That indeed would be a solemn and worthy goal to pursue. I'd urge everyone in this list to take a trip to this center and give a little encouragement to these young people. Then come back and share your stories with everyone. There was singing and dancing with smiles all around.
