Proposed meetup over a weekend

Hi free brothers (and sisters), Like I said in my earlier email, I'm new to Bangalore and am looking to personally meet Free Software Users. As there's no event immediately coming up, I propose a casual meet over a weekend, open to any/all the free software enthusiasts. Please reply if you're interested so that we can proceed with fixing the date and venue. It'd be good if you could give a talk about anything concerning free software. I shall promote Debian GNU/Linux. Is there anyone who is familiar with GNU/Hurd? I'd love to hear your experiences as I'm about to install Debian GNU/Hurd soon. Hi Dominick, Welcome to Bangalore. Hope you are enjoying the city's weather. Yes, I am! Thanks. The slow traffic is annoying me though! I agree with you that the community is less active. I too would like to make some good fnds and learn more about open source. This is not an open source community Manjunath. We must clearly understand the difference between free software and open source software. I'm not sure if open source is offtopic on this mailing list. The seniors will tell us though. Is Bangalore FSUG a dead mailing list?

Hi! I have relocated to Bangalore as I got my first job here. I have searched the internet to find this mailing list, and I'm unhappy that the Bangalore FSUG is more or less dead. When I do recieve an e-mail, it's about some certification material from IBM, Oracle and SUN SCJP. The closest thing remotely related to free software is the CCNA. Is this what Bangalore FSUG is all about? Would there be anyone who would really wish to promote or contribute to the spirit of free software? I have come to know foss.in is being held between 15-17 of Dec at NIMHANS Convention Center. I'd wish to know how many are attending. This will be the first time I'll be attending the event, and I'm looking to make some free friends. Dominick
