Whatever I've written in the article is my personal opinion which I do not wish to discuss or will entertain any comments on. Instead of saying "Lets restrict the discussions on this mailing list to technical issues", I should probably have said that. But I do admire your 'enthusiasm'! Haven't seen anyone get so excited, so soon!! Take Care! As for the creation of new thread. Thats my bad. I had deleted the previous emails. Thought Pipermail was smart enough to take an email with the same subject as part of an older thread. Lets do some constructive discussion, shall we? Has anyone tried what I've mentioned with their ISPs? Ubuntu Server & Desktop

hi i just have a query, that does Ubuntu Server edition includes Ubuntu Desktop features also, or it has only server features. Like SUSE contains both server and desktop features in a single DVD. Cause i want to apply for Ubuntu latest version, but i want both in one dvd only. Or do i have to register for both seperate desktop edition and server edition. pls confirm thanks n rgds -- IPS Khurana

[HW/OT] HP Mini 2133 with Linux

Is this model available in Mumbai? If so, anyone had a look at it, price etc? I have seen a model in Dubai (8.9" dispay, 512MB RAM, 120HDD, V7 1.2GHz, 1.3 Megapixel Webcam) retailing for about AED 1550 (+100 AED for 1GB RAM upgrade). The OS is Novell/SuSE Linux desktop. The keyboard is larger (and IMO more useable) compared to Acer One and the new ASUS EEEpc. The downside is that the warranty on units sold in Dubai is not valid in India. -- Arun Khan

accounting related softwares in linux

Could anybody here comment on kalculate.com and how it is when compared to Tally in terms of standard features, bugs, todolists, user feedback? Also cometmedia.org's Krishnakant Mane has been making a python equivalent for customising gnucash to do accounting work for small businesses/organisations. Anybody knows how these softwares are and are there any independent critics of the same who can tell the state of progress/development. Making linux favorable for desktop users, specially small organisations means there must be an accounting package relevant to India. The most resource constrained organisations are schools and colleges, training institutions etc but edubuntu, ltsp.org, moodle etc are hardly mentioned on most of our LINUX websites. Dear All, We have to shift to venue of the meet for this month's meeting. The only available venue is at Powai. Date: Sunday, 19th Oct. 2008 Time: 2:00-5:00 PM IST Venue: B-103, Powai Sarovar Co op Society, next to Powai Police station, Bldg no 1, MHADA, Rambaug Powai, Mumbai - 76 Agenda: 1. Statusbar 4. Popup 5. Dialogs 6. TableWidget 2. Presentation by Giovanni Maruzzelli - chan_celliax and chan_skypiax, how to add gsm and skype channels to Asterisk 1. Asterisk overview 2. Asterisk's Channel Drivers overview 3. Hardcore Asterisk development challenges 4. how chan_celliax works: audio, signaling, dsp 5. chan_celliax hardware: audiocables, datacables, cellphones 6. how chan_skypiax works: audio, signaling 7. celliax and skypiax dialplan usage 8. celliax and skypiax AMI manager usage 9. directoriax, app_directory on steroids 10. putting all together in a simple example 11. Q&A Session I have dropped Aditya's presentation which will be carried forward to next meeting when it happens in Rhythm and Hues. Since the venue does not have an OHP, we can Hire one from the market. I have checked the rate which is about INR 1500.00. If all attendees contribute INR 50.00 and if we have attendance of 30 we can easly bear the cost.
