System Administrator Qualifications : B.E./B.Tech. Computer Engineering or Science Preferably with linux administration certification (Redhat). Skill Required : - A hands on understanding of a GNU/Linux distribution preferably Debian or Ubuntu, Strong command of the BASH shell commands, Strong command of at least one shell based editor preferably vim or emacs, Strong understanding and command of the GNU/Linux user/group/other permissions and ownership at PAM and structures, units and divisions at LDAP levels, Strong understanding and command of the GNU/Linux ext3/ext4 file system and hierarchies, Shell scripting, along with minor sed and awk skills is a bonus, Strong understanding and command of Apache, SSH(D), SAMBA, LDAP, Cyrus IMAP, Postfix, Dovecot, Round Cube administration and deployment - Handle the hosting environment including routine updates and planning and management of longer-term infrastructure upgrades - Management of the storage infrastructure including backups and general IT maintenance - Software management (updates and configuration; scripting & automation) of a live hosting infrastructure - Manage the Data Center and Data Redundancy centre and Servers in Cloud Environment. - Duties and Responsibilities : - Installing and configuring software, hardware and networks. Hi all, Digital Security Workshop with Tor Project Surfing the web can be risky: corporations and governments are tracking what you do online. But, using Tor you can avoid censorship and online surveillance. In this activity, you will learn what the Tor network is, what’s the onion routing and how it’s different from a VPN, how to install Tor browser and other digital secure tools. If you already use Tor, we’re excited to learn about your experience using it, teaching and talking about Tor. In this workshop you will also learn about the Global South Initiative and how you can collaborate with Tor Project. We would like to collect UX feedback and to do UX testing with the group. There will be another talk about SecureDrop project. The Tor Project is a nonprofit organization based on Seattle, United States, that advances human rights and freedoms by creating and deploying free and open source anonymity and privacy technologies. https://torproject.org SecureDrop is an open source whistleblower submission system that media organizations and NGOs can install to securely accept documents from anonymous sources. It was originally created by the late Aaron Swartz and is now managed by Freedom of the Press Foundation. Speakers: * Gustavo Gus - works at The Tor Project as Community Liaison in Global South. Hello All, I am a student at DJSCE, and am new to this group (first time for any LUG). Just want to say that I am excited to get in touch with you all. I had built the website and the registration app for the same as a volunteer for the event and was invited to attend the event by FSF IN, the event at RVCE. I really enjoyed the event and the speech was great. RMS has a way to explain things in a simple to understand and yet entertaining way. He is super approachable and nice. Even got to have lunch with RMS :) .., We really need him to visit Mumbai the next time too. There is alot to learn for first timers and many like minded people would get a chance to meet and exchange ideas. P.S: Forgive me if I have I have broken any mailing list rule, but please do point out. Im open to learning.
