Frame skips and annoying lags are common. IceWM works ok as a desktop as long as too many tabs are not opened in libreoffice or firefox. --===============6519910500247059213==-- From baskar@linuxpert.in Mon Dec 3 12:20:41 2018 From: Baskar Selvaraj To: linuxers@mm.ilug-bom.org.in Subject: Re: [ILUG-BOM] Purchasing a RaspberryPi in Mumbai Date: Mon, 03 Dec 2018 12:20:03 +0530 Message-ID: In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="===============2062246215455808675==" --===============2062246215455808675== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > RPI3 chokes on anything above 1024 x 768. Frame skips and annoying > lags are common. In LibreELEC, when displaying at FHD (1080p) I haven't noticed any drops in Frame rate even when playing the videos from remote computers. As a Desktop, I use only terminal. --===============2062246215455808675==-- From roycejp@gmail.com Mon Dec 3 12:33:30 2018 From: Royce Pereira To: linuxers@mm.ilug-bom.org.in Subject: Re: [ILUG-BOM] Purchasing a RaspberryPi in Mumbai Date: Mon, 03 Dec 2018 12:33:18 +0530 Message-ID: In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="===============7239610017456311090==" --===============7239610017456311090== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit It can't play X265 encoded movies, which are becoming increasingly common. I found youtube 1080p videos too choking on full screen. As a desktop it's OK for light and occasional work. You can use the libreoffice suite and browser. (Eventually for media playback, i bought an Android box from a Chinese site and installed LibreElec 8.2) On Mon, 3 Dec 2018 at 12:20, Baskar Selvaraj wrote: > > RPI3 chokes on anything above 1024 x 768.
