i too, tried a lot to install oracle 8.1.5 on redhat 7.2....the installer requires jre1.1.6 (later versions wont work..also..its path is hard coded in the script)..after gr8 pain finally the installation was completed successfully. but i couldn't create the default database for the same.

I am tryin my best to install Oracle8i (the
beast....;) ) on RedHat 7.2 ....but all that happens
when i run the install script (runinstall.sh)...it
just give a message abt loading JRE.....cpu usage by
JRE goes to 100% without any further process.

I have heard abt successful RH7.2 installations with
ORacle 8i. Cany some1 provide some pointers
pliss......

Sometime ago Network Computing had a special Linux
issue which featured this ORacle on Linux
install....but i cant seem to find this online
nywhere......on ny of www.nc-india.com sites.

SuSE7.3 workz out of the box with ORacle. but i dont
want to mess woth another bloatware package unless i
am forced into it.

Ny help will be highly appreciated luggers......;)
