[snip] malhar.... therz tonz of stuff that 1 could work on when u talk abt the Free SOftware front.
Therz system level projects, application level projects, developing web-based apps......tonz of stuff 1 could do.
Why don't u try goin thro www.freshmeat.net and sourceforge.net. This is 1 place where i am 100% sure, u'll find some project in ur area of interest.

That's a pretty generica question ... what kind of project do you mean? There are people involved in a few ideas -
LInux For Education A customised Debian distribution for engineers Localasition being done at NCST-Juhu The ILUG-Bom website and resource repository
I am sure other members will have a lot to say about this.

Search the archive of http://www.gnu-india.org/ there are some projects going on.
Dear luggers.......
itz a long time since we hav performed soem community service....:)) Lemme propose an idea, and u'll tell me how we can take this 1 ahead.
Very recently i have had lotz of studentz who hav written to me for projects that they could do on Linux and various other aspects of the Free SOftware world.
As we are lucky to have very emminent senior Free SOftware propagators like nagarjun who have been keenly supporting and offering students the option of conducting projects @ TIFR, therz also a limit to the no of students who can be under his esteemed guidance.
At the same time, i think we should not take this lightly but instead spur the very important culture of learing and sharing in these bright young minds.
Letx propose a way wherein we have a database of projects that studentz from all over India can take up.....and a core group among us fosters and provides continous guidance to these budding stars of tomorrow.
Hoping that some of u will take this up seriously. I am very keen in heraling this cause and associating with ny1 else to make this dream come true.....ofcourse with guidance of the elders here.....;)
