Am wondering if there are any educational/non-profitable institutions who would require the services of someone who knows something about FLOSS. This is on a voluntary basis.

its not that easy - first you have to convince them that they need FLOSS. *Then* step forward and fulfill the need. I have been volunteering my services for years - but no takers so far. Vested interests have been too powerful
