Microsoft's respose is actually a big joke. For instance, they claim that "Microsoft software is completely interoperable.". And just yesterday Microsoft has been fined a record $1.35 billion precisely for not providing information to enable interoperability!

On a related note. The IT department has different excel forms for filing returns... that demonstrate the heights of interoperability and the corruption in the high offices. That is one for the different "Hall of Shame" too.
