Dear All, I am Smitha Rao, I work for a non-profit Organisation- Shala Network in Bangalore. Our focus is 'IT in Education' and thus we support rural under-priviledged schools with computers and related infrastucture, making available the relevant educational content in the local language,Training of teachers, evaluation and monitoring of the programe...etc, we have partnered with another non-profit Organisation- S3IDF which concentrates on Rural Infrastructure Development. We have executed projects in rural parts of Chitradurga and Bellary.
We would be interested in developing good content for educational purposes using Open source softwares and LTSP solutions.
Thanks, Smitha

Hi All, Well, I have not seen the CD mentioned here... If I could know how I could have access to one, would definitely like to check it out.
I have a copy of the FreeDuc CD. Wanted to try out for a school. Unfortunately it is only in french. I contacted the FreeDuc team and was informed that command-line boot option can be given to boot in english (and some of the interfaces should appear in english). I need to try it out. It is available at http://www.ofset.org/freeduc-cd. I can provide a copy of the CD if required. (I stay in Jayanagar 9th Block, Bangalore)
A related info - Edubuntu, a project from the Ubuntu team is something to watch for. Edubuntu aims to be an Ubuntu version suitable for classroom use. (http://udu.wiki.ubuntu.com/Edubuntu) It is expected to be released along with the next release of Ubuntu (October 2005).
warm regards Shivakumar

If possible try to make couple of copies and pass it around, it seems that there aren't copies of FreeDuc CD in bangalore.

That's news for me, Keep us updated Shivakumar.

Interested ppl may mail to me offline. I can get a couple of CDs done. Also, if any of you would like to pick the ISO image from me using your USB device let me know.

Sure, will do so. But I should add that my source of info is limited to the net and is no better than anybody else on this list.
best regards Shivakumar
