Morning Friends,
Perhaps you must of read about the "Hole in the wall" project computer education which was first tried outside the NIIT in New Delhi.

Can we do that with GNU/Linux I remember reading about Mozilla can run in kiosk mode or we can have a LiveCD running too.
Please comment.

hi friends this is probably my second mail on the topic the only solution that can remove the huge digital divide in india is by extensive localization projects. in fact the mood for the same is very healthy across the country with lot many groups joining hands for the noble cause. before thinking about taking it into masses extensively the first basic step should be to bring complete GNU/Linux distributionin all the major languages then restrciting ourselves to certain applications. and then it can projects like localization of free education cds etc. which can be followed by development of simulators for indian schools. that is all in personal view. regards naveen

Localization and distrubution of GNU/Linux Cd's is great, lot of members are working on it.But what am trying to point out is work on Ground Zero.
If anyone give me computer running GNU/Linux I will love to put up at a public place where people can see and experiment it.
This morning I posted a message about Hole-in-the-wall project. We should do something innovative.
Let's walk the talk fellows.
Not let me see how many reply I get to this post, well I bet theren't much you have the guts to do something real.
Cheers

Dear Naveen,
If I remember correctly, your first post some time back provided your support for localization work.
What I tried and failed to point out in my post is this, we can create a great chucks of programs. But they will wasted if you root level groups like us do something like __really__ taking the computing to these digitally deprived.
Well coming to point of convincing people, I think we all pretty much confidant that GNU/Linux and Free Software Solutions work. Then why not go all the way and shout it from the roof-tops.

hi rakesh convincing people from roof top?????????????????????????????? how many of members from this group have reacted to ur mail other then me ?? its all ground reality. you are very much true in your point there is no use if we all are simply creating some new stuff and if it is not reaching people. the next question who is going to take it to the people. absolutely people like us. but can we do it alone. if not we need people, how many of the our friends on this group did react. can give me the reasons for that??????? this is were i meant convincing people. not just from the groups close to us,we need to convince govts, psu, colleges schools, not just on or two but from every quarter of life. regards naveen

Well, That's the sad reality.Yet that doesn't give me a reason to expect that we will get more active members in future. Abhas, Sajith , Ab and countless other people are behind FSUG and that's what matters.
As long as Arky is here, FSUG will not cease to thrive.

Well, Everyone has there reasons and I respect that. We can do what's in our means.Remember the first steps are always alone.

Well, Coming to the college/schools and educational institutions. Now let me request you this, there is a request from a well-known personality in Bangalore who's is organizing events in all colleges.
Will you be willing to give a talk on Free Software or related technologies.
