we use kdenlive, easy to use and sufficient for our pupose.
do we need to install any extra codecs / plugins etc , as i am hearing from the operator that there are many special effects in the proprietary softwares
for example some of the faculty want to have a small sized video of their lecture + practicals being demonstrated + presentations etc
we do not use them, but the app has several sound and video filters. you can have multiple tracks, where one of them can be a small video in a corner of say a presentation.
