RH Linux not overwriting MBR.

Have 2 HDDs: Master: 4 Gb [hda] Slave: 32 Gb [hdb] (is 40 Gb, but my BIOS treats it as 32 Gb) Windows C: on hda. It has 2 more windows partitions. For hdb the partitions are as follows: hdb1 - Windows hdb2: hdb5, hdb6.... <10 partitions>. All Windows. hdb3 - Linux native, mount point / - 10Gb hdb4 - Linux swap - 200 Mb It goes through the entire installation process, and asks me to reboot. But then directly boots into Windows. Tried Lilo & Grub. I explicitly asked to overwrite MBR during installation. Haven't tried with boot disk. Damn those floppies. All turned up with bad sectors :) Tried RH Linux 7.2 & 5.0. Any way out? hello luggerz visited the PRC, and did sign up... good work himanshu n trevor, students are gonna find this gr8... need more souls like u in the world. how abt my suggestion of a help page?? have got a project from my teachers.. it is A Linux Cluster to implement RSA cryptography any suggestion fellows... another prob... we've been trying to set up a linux lab in our coll. what we want is that our server runs on linux and the nodes on windows, every student who works in the lab has an account on the server but sits on the nodes and do their programs there and when they are done, they may store their work on the server. we have set up the network and we are being able to perform remote login from the nodes BUT we are having probs configuring the ftp deamon. its only allowing anonymous login and that too isnt being able to send files to the server. can we have some help on this plz- we want that every person who has a valid account on the server shud be able to ftp to the server thru that account... plz we are desperately trying... PLZ HELP Gurpreet

I have been through many of the Intel channel meets. They do give an impression even to dealers that their mobos are really high end. Unless you are talking server boards, everything else is plain hogwash. IMHO, Intel motherboards and even *Intel Chipsets* suck! My AMD K6-2 350 with a VIA chipset, does faster I/O than a Intel Pentium III with an Intel Chipset. I find Linux support for mobo's from manufacturers like ASUS and Gigabyte is great. I see lots of room for us to symbiosis together. For example, there is likely to be areas where we diagnosing, documenting, analysing, coding or publicising where there is over-duplication. If we coordinated ourselves and found out where our circles and priorities intersect , we could share this work and get fruits out faster. We have set up a netwk of 2 comps in linux.They are able to ping each other.We are however unable to share each others files using NFS.The Kernel version is 2.4.2-2 and it Red Hat based PCQ Linux. Plz echo me as soon as possible. -Satyajit Saste

Greetings, i am Atul from India. I need some help on multidrop mailing with fetchmail using sendmail. Hi, Try and edit your /etc/inetd.conf file . Search for the imap and pop2 file and insert .120 so the final file looks as follows: pop-3 stream tcp nowait.120 root /usr/sbin/tcpd ipop3d imap stream tcp nowait.120 root /usr/sbin/tcpd imapd Restart inetd with /etc/rc.d/init.d/inet restart. This is to increase the default POP hits to 120 hits per sec for high load email servers. This helped us to resolve the same issue with redhat 6.2 in our office. Let us know if it helped.
