I am using squid v 2.5.STABLE8 (recompiled with x-forwarded-for patch) along with dansguardian v 2.8.0.3 on a FC2 box. Iptables dnat rules make sure that all port 80 and port 3128 requests are sent to port 8080.
When I configure squid to enable access based on proxy_auth using /usr/lib/squid/pam_auth, I always get access denied... with the
following line in the cache.log :
2005/08/25 11:51:06| aclAuthenticated: authentication not applicable on accelerated requests.
Funny thing is -- if the client's browser settings are changed to use Proxy server on port 3128 instead of "automatically detect settings",
then the browser pops up for username/password and accepts correct passwords to work just fine.
But I was wanting to get this done when the browser hits on port 80 and not port 3128.
Even when I try without Accel mode, I get access denied from squid, with the only difference being that instead of saying that the denied page was - lets say - "yahoo.com" -- it will say denied page was -- "/"
I googled a bit and found that squid ver 3 (still under DEVEL) has an option to rebuild with "--enable-auth-on-accel" which will probably solve this problem.
But i dont want to use v3 as it is still under DEVEL.
I am now wondering what can be done about this ..... can someone help?

Hi All,
I am trying to install Oracle 9i Standard edition on RHEL 4.
While setting the shmmax value ( as root ) in /proc/sys/kernel to that
specified in the Oracle documentation, I am facing a problem. When I
edit the value in shmmax using vi editor and try saving it, it gives a
message "E667 : Fsync failed."
I am unable to edit this file. Can anyone help me out with this ?

I have one question about RHCE exam. RHEL comes with Postfix and Sendmail
MTA. I am comfortable with Postfix and I would not like to waste my energy
with Sendmail. In exam can I choose Postfix over Sendmail or I have to
concentrate on both Postfix and Sendmail?
Is there any RHCE forum out there?
Anybody with RHEL 4.0 NOT RHEL 3.0 books on 033,133 and 253 please contact

i have following lines in bash.

mount -t vfat /some/usb_devfs/device /mnt/usb
cd /mnt/usb
But somehow the 'cd' command behaves very strangely.
if after cd /mnt/usb i put 'pwd' it shows '/mnt/usb' but,
instead of 'pwd' if i put 'ls' it shows the listing of dir from which
the script is executed. very strange.
