I am able to successfully send and receive faxes on my PC. But there
is no indication of an incoming fax so there is no way to know a fax
is coming, just by watching (while testing in same room) that other
person is sending fax, and clicking "Answer the call" I receive fax.
What that is not possible in real deployment.
STANDBY MODE (automatic answering mode) is not working. I changed
initialization params from Z &FE&D2S7=120 &C0 M1L0 to Z &FE&D2S7=120
&C0 M1L2 S11=55 but no success.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hello,
I am happy to announce that the application is finally ready.
Thanks to all those who helped with their valuable inputs.
The system not only marks employees as present with their thumbnail photos
and a monthly report but it also rejects wrong names and prevents duplicate
/ repeat marking for every day. If an employee signs on someone else's name
then his photo is clicked with that user's name and his hanky panky is
recorded. After a duration of some hours that will be decided by the company
boss, the system even marks those who are absent as 'Absent' in their
monthly log.
Adding or removing users is simply a process of editing a single text file
with a list of employees.

I am using Reliance Netconnect USB modem,
I want to shift to 3G usb modem,
I want to know which usb modems work under Linux box ?
If you give me the model number along with your Internet provider, then I
will be able to compose a list and host on wiki.

Dear Linux Users
Can we start Fedora 14 File Server in TEXT mode after having installed in
text mode? If yes, how?
We used to install up to Fedora 10 in text only mode and also get it started
in text mode. But had to start installing in graphic mode as the text mode
install from Fedora 11 onwards no longer offers partitioning and package
selection.
Our knowledge of Linux is limited and its been a long time I passed my
engineering (20 years), so kindly pardon my limited abilities in Linux.

Linux kernel to be released under BSD licence
By Sam Varghese
Friday, 01 April 2011 00:47
Opinion and Analysis
The Linux kernel will soon be released under the BSD licence, kernel
creator Linus Benedict Torvalds said today.
He was speaking at a dinner held to honour the top five 2011 Linux
Foundation gurus, including the ultimate Linux.com guru, the member of
the site who accumulated the most contribution and participation
points over the last year.
The Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux.
Shortly after he made the announcement, Torvalds was honoured by
Foundation head Jim Zemlin for making the most meaningless
contribution to Linux.
In a confidential statement, which was leaked to iTWire by GNOME
desktop co-founder Miguel de Icaza, Torvalds said his move to change
the licence for the kernel from the GPLv2 had been driven by recent
events, including Google's bid to use kernel headers without
infringing copyright.
"There are a host of corporations out there, all of them desperately
trying to take advantage of the good code we have created," Torvalds
said, referring to the kernel team. "And they are all hampered by the
licence under which we have released the kernel."
He said a secret summit of kernel developers, held in the Honduran
capital Tegucigalpa, had voted unanimously to change the licence from
the GPLv2 to the BSD licence which meant that anyone could use code
from the kernel in proprietary software and lock it away from public
view forever.
Asked for a reaction, Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer said he
would have to closely examine the statements attributed to Torvalds.
"This Linux thing was like a cancer all these years and it is
difficult to see it metamorphosing overnight into something that might
save our company," he said.
Oracle head Larry Ellison declined an offer to comment. However,
sounds of glee could be heard over the telephone before he replaced
the receiver.
Google chief executive Larry Page, who is new to the role, said: "Gee,
we never do any evil so it doesn't make any difference to us."
Novell chief executive Ron Hovsepian hailed the announcement as the
"dawning of a new morning."
The only note of disapproval came from Free Software Foundation chief
Richard Matthew Stallman. "This Linux Foundation and other bodies
tasked with promoting GNU/Linux are always indulging in publicity
stunts. A few years back, some organisation recruited Paris Hilton in
a bid to promote the kernel. This is just another cunning stunt,"
Stallman said.
I want to convert a really old laptop (Gateway 1998) into a print
server + proxy server + other gateway features depending on how well
handles the load.
The HDD has failed and I am looking to replace it with an used one.
Please contact me off list if you have a spare 2.5" 40-80 GB IDE/SATA
[1] HDD in working condition [2] with your best price.
[1] Preference is for IDE but SATA will also do (I have the SATA/IDE
converters and cables)
[2] must pass badblocks w/o any errors.
TIA

Hello,
In the page
http://docstore.mik.ua/orelly/unix/sedawk/ch02_05.htm
I followed the instructions to create a file called nameState and
byState. The earlier sample commands with nameState work. I can also
'cat byState' and see the contents too. But when I run their sample
command
|sed -f nameState list | byState
I get the error: byState: command not found
Even while typing the command itself, after the pipe, the byS does not auto complete giving a indication of a problem.
What could this be? I can work with the file individually but after the pipe it does not show up.
I can even do awk '{ print $0 }' byState and display the file contents.

Hello,
I am trying to get a grip on sed and regular expressions. I found this
site which looked nice but it appears to have mistakes in its examples.
For eg. on this page
http://docstore.mik.ua/orelly/unix/sedawk/ch02_03.htm
There is a file called 'list' and all commands are tested on this file.
The file contents are:-
John Daggett, 341 King Road, Plymouth MA Alice Ford, 22 East Broadway, Richmond VA Orville Thomas, 11345 Oak Bridge Road,
Tulsa OK Terry Kalkas, 402 Lans Road, Beaver Falls PA
Eric Adams, 20 Post Road, Sudbury MA Hubert Sims, 328A Brook Road, Roanoke VA
Amy Wilde, 334 Bayshore Pkwy, Mountain View CA Sal Carpenter, 73 6th Street, Boston MA
They have created a script file called sedscr. I have put the text as
asked by them which is pasted below
s/ MA/, Massachusetts/ s/ PA/, Pennsylvania/ s/ CA/, California/ s/ VA/, Virginia/ s/ OK/, Oklahoma/
However when I give this as input to the file called 'list', I get an error:- sed: file sedscr line 1: unknown option to `s'
In the earlier examples of substitution sed 's/MA/Massachusetts/" list works only on the first instance of MA and not all which
goes against their statements that sed commands are global by default unless the address is specified. The above command
will work globally only if the /g option is put in the right had side.
Is there any good website where I can learn sed and regular expressions.
