Hi Stop RIP service & just chk weather r getting same internet usage from linux. rgds girish Hi all I use cable modem for my mail seerver on linux Rh 7.0. setup uses squid ,sendmail ,fetchmail and ipchains and RIP. Now question is when i use WinXP For internet sharing only then my internet usage go up to 400MB and when same is replaced by above setup then it goes to 1 gb WHY so much of difference ? and let me know how to reduce this on linux ,all other services on linux r stopped . 2 minor problems after kernel recompilation..

Hi, This is my first post to this mailing list although I have been lurking for a couple of months... I am facing 2 problems with my GNU/Linux box (Redhat 7.2, Kernel 2.4.19) since I installed the 2.4.19 kernel a couple of months ago.. 1) My system does not turn off automatically after issuing the powerdown command.. Hi all Whenever i log on to SUn os 5.2 or solaris i always face 1 problem : when i open a file using 'vi' editor, then it gets opened as in linux but, when i try to right something using 'Esc i' then <-- BSpace and delete button do not work as in linux and put some unnecessary characters at start of prceding line. hi there are two types of users/groups. system users and normal users. system groups include groups like apache, mail, etc nd other app and system groups. there are users like root who are members of more system groups as well. what is the use of these system groups? can i create a normal user as a member of one of these system groups? say apache. if i can what additional functionality will that user get. will that user get full access to all apache files? including changing the config … [View More]

Query on Setting different bandwidths using a leae line

Hi This can be done thru a bandwidth shapping in your router if your router supporting bandwidth shapping module, I think ciscos all above 1700 series supports bandwidth shapping or u can do it thru IPtables in Linux 7.3. But u cant control bandwidth given to a particular user, controls can be done thru services they use.
