Hello All, Looking for resources on working on a very small footprint GNU/Linux for project we plan to start in the Affordable Solutions Lab. The idea is to put enough stuff on 32MB Flash RAM, in a thin machine that can run Mozilla and some apps, probably based on it using XUL. Problem creating usernames with dots

Hi I wasn't able to create a username with dots (m.vinayak) on my local machine which runs RH 9. Any idea why this has been disabled and how this can be circumvented. This was allowed on RH 8. Do all latest distros do the same thing or is this a RH thing? Printing from GNU/Linux m/c -> Windows m/c

Hello Everyone, I am trying to share a printer connected to windows98 m/c. I am using cups to manage printing from GNU/Linux box. The printer is an Epson dot matrix 24 pin series printer. on the windows98 m/c printer is shared(no authentication required) and is visible in the Network Neighbour Hood as shared. storage of temperary files

hi all , due to some reasons I cannot store the various log files in the hard disk... I don't need to store those log files in permanent memory (i.e. in disk), i can afford to loose after the system is switched off.... Getting BTTV working

Hi! Has anyone here ried using xawtv on a bt878/848 chipset. (Im not too sue which one it is coz everytime i go hunting to get it working ... Theres always something else pushing me back to win). Basically, if i boot to win, start pixelview, and then reboot (WITHOUT SHUTTING DOWN) back into linux, i can get some kinda reception. Until then I just cant get ANYTHING! How to spead up Appache

Hi Friends, In my linux server (LOCAL), accessing data through the PHP scripts from MySQL tables, it is taking more time. Earlier it was very fast. Now a days some reports it is taking more than five minuits. Earlier it use to come with in a minuit. What may the problem and what is the settings I have to make in Appache to spead up the process.
