problem with fedora booting

Hi all, I am facing this typical problem with Fedora core 3 . I did not face this problem with any of previous Redhat distros. I have a 40 gb hdd of which 32 is usable. My partitioning is as follows: 1) C:\ ------- 4gb 2) D:\---------10gb 3) E:\---------remaining I installed windowsxp in C: Then i installed fedora core 3 by deleting D: partition and have /boot ,swap and root partition for fedora core 3.I installed grub in the MBR. The installation went fine.But when i rebooted it brought me to the grub command line I did not get the grub OS selection screen. I tried giving the root partition on the grub command line.But it always told me that it lies outside the cylinder range.This problem never happened with previous versions of redhat or fedora. I also tried with other setup. After starting the installation of Fedora I deleted all the partitions and installed Fedora core 3 within the first 2 gb with /boot,swap and root partition.This was a minimal install.Grub was installed in MBR Then i installed Fedora core 1 after fedora core 3 using the same /boot and swap as that of fedora core3.I did not install grub for fedora core 1.Instead i modified the /boot/grub/grub.conf to include the 2.4.22 kernel of Fedora core1. This time it gave me the OS selection screen with both kernels.I could boot into Fedora core3 but not into fedora core1.It still gave me that the root partition is out of boot cylinder range. Can anyone help me out? Pankaj

Hi, I Use Redhat as my daily use not for proffesional use but in future i mite Want to know which mail server would be appropriate to use ,, In future i mite start using SUSE as desktop system also let me know abt that as well

problem with vsftpd server

Hi junta when i tried to connect my pc using ftp client then following message appeared GSAPI error major :-an invalid name was supplied GSSAPI error major: An invalid name was supplied 2 GSSAPI error minor: Cannot determine realm for numeric host address 3 GSSAPI error: parsing name 4 name parsed <ftp(a)10.129.85.50> 5 6 GSSAPI error major: An invalid name was supplied 7 GSSAPI error minor: Cannot determine realm for numeric host address 8 GSSAPI error: parsing name 9 name parsed <host(a)10.129.85.50> 10 11 GSSAPI authentication failed 12 Kerberos V4 krb_mk_req failed: You have no tickets cached 13 Login failed. 530 Must perform authentication before identifying USER. Remote system type is UNIX. Restrict Access to Oracle

Hi, i had followed the same approach.First I checked whether the SQLNET service is listed in /etc/services.It was not , so i added an entry to the same.Next I denied access to this service in hosts.deny for a particular IP , but still the machine with the specified IP(the one to whom the SQLNET service was denied) is able to connect to oracle.The service is not listed in xinetd.d.What shud i do next ? How do i locate the file related to the SQLNET service ? Regards, Sneh.
