Have you tried to anyway create a Java project in Eclipse. I had a similar
problem with Eclipse 2.1.2 on Linux, but when I created a Java project, it
automatically asked me if I wanted to change the perspective to Java even
though I hadn't seen it before. It works without any problem.
BTW, my setup is PCQLinux2004 (based on Fedora Core 1) and the default
installation of Java and Eclipse 2.1.2. I'm sorry I don't remember my Java
version right now.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Rajesh
