Help for Linux Distribution for Intel EM64T Architecture.

Hi, I am Hon. working for a Leading NGO in Western Suburbs as IT Head. Recently we purchased a new pc of below mentioned Configuration: Intel P IV 3.0 Ghz 531 with EM64T (64 Bit Tech.) Intel 915G Original Mother Board 512 MB DDR RAM 400 Mhz 80 Gb SATA Hard Disk (Samsung ST380017AS) and rest of the things (Keyboard, Mouse M/Media Speakers Ect) I am trying to install Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.0 AS/WS on the same but my hard disk is not recognised during installation. It shows no hard disk found and asks for the SATA Driver Disketts. Even i tried to install Fedora Core 4 Provided with Digit Aug 05 Magzine. But it also does not recognise my Hard Disk. One of my friend told me that i have to use a distribution which supports 64 bit Technology. Can any one provide me the necessary Distribution of RHEL 3.0 AS/WS or Fedora Core 4 or Mandriva 10 and Driver disks required for the same. problem with kernel compilation

hi all, i recently compiled linux 2.6.6 on debian.while booting the new linux kernel i'm getting the error message: RAMDISK: image too big!(38180/8192blocks) VFS:cannot open root device "hda9" or unknown block (0,0) please append a correct "root="boot option kernel panic:VFS:unable to mount root fs on unknown - block(0,0) plz help. regards nikhil "live life ethically"

Hi list, I received a particular email from a certain company claiming to do research on "people who use linux". It's ok to do "research" but what got my attention was this particular line: >It would be grest if you could give us some time of your`s.We assure >you that you will not be told to buy anything ....it is just a pure >research for about an hour ...we will be giving you a gift for >attending this group. What "gift" ? "not be told to buy anything" ? Hmm...that seems quite suspicious. From when did *anyone*, in Mumbai, become so benevolent to give out free gifts? I used to receive several telephone calls where I would be invited to a "meeting" for an "hour" at the end of which we would get "gifts". I never attended one but I know they are scams or stupid marketing gimmicks. Apart from that, there are several spelling mistakes, no professional tone and the email is quite sloppily drafted. Could these guys be genuine? or is it just a scam? Looking forward to hearing from the more "experienced" luggers :) Regards, Dinesh.

fortune tag files

just discovered how to use insert random signature while composing email in gmail. it accepts the fortune tag files. i am right now collecting some very good fortune tag files for the same. if anyone would like to share their fortune tags files please send them offlist (not everybody will like those attachments). waiting..... -- "The 'C' language can order structure members anyway it wants." - Richard B.
