[OT] Picture, Document preview

Hi, how is the preview for say a jpeg image or say a pdf document generated, say in nautilus or something. actually i have to write an application in java(the crappy programmer that I am :) ) that has to generate some document preview... thanks, -- Puneet

I dont know the complete name of the motherboard but most ASUS based motherboards would be better. Want to setup a Secure Lan for Univ network

Hi Friends, I am a graduate level Environmental engineer, We at our modeling group are planning to establish our own network. My Lab description . 2 Clusters with 7 nodes, 10 linux machine , 3 windows machine. 2 printers and 2x300TB storage device. Our problem is secure our network from intrustion from external network ( we have exp it ). I need a model that will be able achive this goal. I am planning to setup one Linux machine to act as router between the college network and our network . I also want to install DHCP server, FTP Server (for some external organisaton to access data ). Hi, I am looking for a Java developer having 6 months to 1 year of experience. Having experience in Swing/SWT/Eclipse will be highly preferred. The work will mostly (3/4ths) be Java application programming and rest will be JSP. So you dont really have to know JSP as it can be picked up easily along the way. (atleast we hope so). Being a free country, salary will definitely be something that is mutually acceptable to both sides. It wouldnt work any other way would it? creation of smbk5pwd.so

when i compiled openldap for the first time with some options and with all overlays (i need smbk5pwd an overlay for passwd syncing) i got a file by name smbk5pwd.c with which i again made a make and got smbk5pwd.la & smbk5pwd.so.but due to other needed dependencies i made a make clean and again made a compilation of openldap and i got the smbk5pwd.c & when i made a make i could receive only the smbk5pwd.la.what could be the problem? --PraveenKrish-- Read my Blog at http://praveenkrish.blogspot.com

Okay this is what I have: one linux box running FC4. eth0 connects to the net via a cable modem. This has a static IP address. eth1 is a SMC2802W wi-fi card working (I think :)) with ndiswrapper. I managed to get a SanDisk cf wi-fi card. I finally got the wi-fi card working with a little help from google. The light in the card goes blink-blink so I know its working. Now I want to connect my zaurus to my linux box over wi-fi. On the zaurus the wi-fi card has a ip of 192.168.129.203. I have tried to ping 192.168.129.202 (ip of eth1) fromthe zaurus but am unable to do so. Trying to ping the ip of the zaurus from the linux box gives an error saying detination host unreachable. The lights on the wi-fi card ligt up when I try to ping the zaurus. What do I need to do ? some pointers please. I can of course provide any more info required. regards, Sharukh. -- Dr. Sharukh K. R. Webcam hangs system

hello everyone i have a Logitech QuickCam Express(USB) webcam and my system runs on UBUNTU 5.10, i've downloaded and installed the drivers and the required s/w with Synaptic, but the problem is whenever i try to access the webcam the system just hangs not just the xserver. Is there a out of this problem?
