Fedora Core 1 did not detect the sound card, but Fedora Core 2 and now
Fedora Core 5 work fine. Sometimes, I do not get sound but that is
easily fixed by going to the 'detect sound card' menu in GNOME and
increasing the sound level using the slider there. Funnily the after
exiting the utility, the slider goes back to where it was but the
thing does not go mute. I suggest you try tinkering with any such
utility if you have.
Otherwise you might try the 'alsamixer' utility too. I use ALSA on my
Fedora Core 5 system.
