http://jabberd.jabberstudio.org/2/docs/quickstart.html If you are not specific about ejabberd, but simply want to run a Jabber server, then follow the instructions in the above link to configure Jabberd2. It worked for me on Fedora Core 5 i386. If you are using an RPM to install Jabberd2 then you will find that most of the instructions can be skipped. Hello LUGies, Its our great pleasure in announcing that Ubuntu-India Team will participate in Carte Blanche 2007 held at MIT Campus Chrompet on 3rd and 4th March 2007. We have got a stall for Ubtunu-India Team and have prepared banners and fliers about Ubuntu & the Loco Team. We also plan to exhibit Ubuntu loaded computers as a hands-on system where visitors can have an Ubuntu experience. We also plan to display 3D desktop using Beryl. Evolution mail client configuration help

Hi list, I'm just trying out evolution as my new mail client. The problem is that I cant find a option to wrap the lines at 72 characters i.e. I cant set the wrapping! There is no option to set the wrapping size anywhere! Anybody using evolution?? How do I configure the client? Thanks. -- Regards, Dinesh A. Joshi

RHEL 4 - Cannot ping.

Hi. I cannot ping any system and no system can ping me on my RHEL 4 AS. SElinux is disabled. No iptables rules are specified. Default installation. hosts.allow, deny are blank. System is HP-Compaq V50000 notebook. ifconfig shows my eth0 properly configured. mii-tool shows link ok. Haven't seen anything like this before. Any pointers ? Regards, NMK.

hi, i am using a fc4, mysql 5.0.27 and erlang(*R11B-3*). i installed ejabberd 1.1.3(binary). i followed the instructions in this link https://support.process-one.net/doc/display/MESSENGER/Using+ejabberd+with+M… . but it did not work and was not giving any error in log files. the ejabberd server was connecting to mysql server(i could c the connection in mysqlAdmin) but it was not registering any user. i tried registering using different tools(ejabberdctl and psi). ney pointers how to make it … [View More]

Linux Compatible Laptops

Hello, I bought a Compaq V3033AU few months back. Turion X2 1.6, 1GB RAM , 100GB HDD, 14.1 wide screen. and rest of the regular features. I've tested it with FC5 32 bit , FC5 64 bit , Gentoo 64 bit, OpenSuse 10.2 but stuck to Gentoo 64 bit in the end. The laptop works well with all the versions I mentioned. The graphics are great with the Nvidia proprietery driver. For wireless I had to use ndiswrapper but I think it might work with the native bcm43xx driver in 2.16.20 . excess downloads on Ubuntu

I have a system with Ubuntu Dapper, firefox, Opera and Evolution email client running. After i activated the Connection properties button I notice that a lot of downloading continues to happen even when the system is idle. the downloading stops only after at least 6 to 8 MBs are downloaded every time I activate MTNL triband. How do I stop this? Every MB costs One Rupee so its obviously very expensive. Shiv Kumar

Samba PDC permission issues

Hello List, I have created a setup consisting of : 1. Samba-PDC server running Centos Linux 4.4, 32 bit, Samba version 3.0.9.1.3E.10, named A 2. This server is joined by three Samba workstations running Centos Linux 4.4, 32 bit, Samba version 3.0.9.1.3E.10, Named B, C & D. The workstations (B, C & D) are authenticated by PDC (A). There are Unix groups on PDC which are converted to NT-groups on A (PDC), using the command : # net groupmap add ntgroup="group-name" unixgroup="group-name"… [View More] type=d The 3 workstations share files that are given group-wise ACL permissions. When I join the workstations to the PDC server through authconfig command, the workstation is shown as joined. When I use the command "getent -g" , it does not show the PDC group. It shows the groups of the local workstation only. The ACL permissions are not working. I am using the command : # setfacl -m g:DOMAIN\\groups:rwx /foldername I get the error message : setfacl: Option -m: Invalid argument near character 3 I seem to be missing something, because, on completing the setup, this worked for 4 hours and then stopped.
