Dear Dr. Nagarjuna, can you please post this news in appropriate fora?

---------------
IIT Bombay is organising a Scilab Workshop, jointly with the Scilab
Development Team at INRIA, France. This Workshop will be
conducted at IIT Bombay, during 7-8 March …
[View More]2007. The details of
this Workshop are available at
http://ekalavya.it.iitb.ac.in/scilab_course.do. An announcement
of this Workshop also appears prominently at the Home Page of
Scilab, namely, www.scilab.org.
You may know that Scilab is a FREE software, having capabilities
similar to the industry standard Matlab. We have adopted Scilab
for several courses at IIT Bombay. We have found Scilab to be an
attractive alternative to Matlab.
This Workshop will consist of introductory and advanced level
talks on the use of Scilab. In addition, we plan to discuss
strategies to take its use forward in India. We would also
discuss whether it is possible to participate in the development
of Scilab and how well to provide support to end users.
We can provide accommodation in our Guest House for those who register
early. In case you have any question, please write to me at
scilab.workshop(a)iitb.ac.in.
Thanks and best wishes.
Kannan Moudgalya

Namely "Freedom"? Naah. How about "user experience"? I
use G/L on a PC, but Mac OSX on the laptop. I tried to
switch to Ubuntu (…

features), but it won't recognise the peripherals.
Not working is not better than networking. And this is
the latest distro, right out of the box. While my box
is an old G4, with old peripherals (about 4 yrs). Give
me a break, for heaven's sake!

Use GNU Octave (http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/). Stay away from
both Matlab and Scilab.

It could also be the heatsink has dried up. this is a common issue, do
you hear any specific sounds when you try and put the machine on?
If you want, you can get the mobo repaired too (if possible), if you are
in mumbai, you can go to esskay in lamington road and give it to them.
If its the heatsink paste, you can get Arctic Silver 5. Its an amazing
product. Just make sure you read the online application manual. A single
drop (size of uncooked grain of rice) is generally good enough for a …

system. Not to mention it brings down the core temperature upto 8-10
degrees when you clean the fan + apply this. The cooler your machine,
the faster/better it performs.
Alternatively if you are considering a new system, amd's are okay, but
if you want to be future proof, the core 2 duo would be a better bet.
AMD64 gives you the 64 architecture, but its still officially an
emulated architecture.Unless you went for the opterons and stuff. The
core2 would give you the benefits of SMP (if enabled in your kernel).
I normally prefer AMD products to Intel (from the early 700mhz duron,
and more with the t-birds and even more since the athlons), have always
favoured the underdogs, but bottom line is still performance. But this
would however mean a bit more expenses now, as compared to performance
you gain in the long run.
So my preferance Core 2 Do + P5W DH Deluxe [

Since I am right now under warranty for one year which expires in June 2007 from Acer on my laptop I would go about trying to get it replaced....But when I talked to the guys at the service centre he just baulked when he heard I was running GNU/Linux and told me that such problems crop up on "LINUX machines".. How do I go about the matter now?? Do I go shout my head off now???

Hi All,
We are using a Linux sendmail as our email server. For few days we
are facing with a problem of worm that sends emails(spam) automatically, due
to this problem some ISP's have blocked us.Is there a software/antivirus to
resolve this problem.
Alternately how can we find out the spam software, whether is a
virus/is due to open relay or some other issue.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi,
My shaving foam is about to run out. Its Gillette currently. I'm wondering if
I should perhaps switch to another brand? Gillette is too expensive.
Also, should I stick with the foam thingie or should I be using a shaving
cream instead? Which is better? It'd help very much to get some reviews from
the members here.
Thanks.
P.S.

Even more reason to stay away from the thing called "open source".

I am not a consultant, and frankly I do not care. I write programs. Or
atleast try to. I would rather make something better (eg., Octave) than
waste my time arguing with you.
Happy hacking,

Can anyone recommend a reliable VPS hosting service which is not too
hard on the wallet?
Also, is the speed difference between a VPS host and your avg shared
host noticeable if running mysql queries over https?
thanks
abhishek
