Anyone willing to suggest which wireless internet (USB) I should consider - I am going to be in Pune (Camp area) - Using linux on laptop ie. linux comaptibility - Using XP on desktop - Speed not important - No limitation of download preferred. - Would be happy to spend Rs 750 pm or so. - Would travel occasionally Thanks -- Ashok Sinha

Hello, Reliance and Tata Indicom have now come out with USB modems that provide broadband speeds theoretically upto 3.1 Mbps in major cities with National low speed roaming in other areas. A client of mine told me that his friend uses a Reliance one and clocked upto 1.5 Mbps on it. Reliance promo emails mention peak hour speeds between 512K and 1Mbps. So I down loaded the RPM package (a tra.gz file) of Oo3. Unpzipped it in a new folder named Open office in my Downloads folder. I double clicked Setup. Got an error msg that Java is not installed. Now what? -- Ashok Sinha

Hello, Today at one place I was amazed to see triband going out of control. DVDs getting downloaded in one hour, large files in minutes. It was an unlimited 512 Kbps scheme but was overclocking. In between it would come down to 600 to 700 KBytes per second, otherwise it was above 1 MBytes per sec. It was the AT&T server connection (username@a). I am using Hathway cable internet where they bind your ip settings to your pc. If I unplug the lan cable from the pc and plug it into my laptop, I cannot browse. They are using some sort of dhcp with a static ip (I know that sounds funny - but that's what they say). When I called the helpdesk, they said what I need to do is release the ip from my machine and then renew it on my laptop. something like ipcfg release and then ipcfg renew. I am running linpus linux which is based on fedora core and would like to know if it is possible to ver 3 of open office. I was checking there was a version for RPM and another for Debian. Which one should I download? -- Ashok Sinha
