GLUG Meeting on 8th 4pm at PUKAR, Near CST.
Very true. Dr. Nag and one of two other luggers will sign cheques.
But that is still a long way off.
Seems the logical way to go, but lets do a reality check. We can build an intricate system for things to work out... but there must be people ready to do the work.
I guess we can discuss this issue in the next GLUG meet. Dr. Nag, how soon can we schedule one?
The next meet is already announced, July 2nd sunday at KreSit. 4pm. Meanwhile: Registering an organization is not easy. Lot of unnecessary paper work. No one is interested in doing any voluntary work. Those who do it, do it for some time and after that they think enough is already done. We do need consistent support. Voluntary support doesn't mean less responsibility. I will have good faith only if the web site is taken care, resources and help documents published, manage at least a good link directory and such things, since these can be done from whereever they are. Does our website provide addresses from where one can get CDs? My personal opinion is that, GLUG should not sell CDs. Some small enterpruener should do it and the information should be posted at the GLUG site. Accounting and all that is a big problem.
Last meet at VJTI CDs were sold in a big way. I have no idea of how many were sold, at what price and where is the account?
On that occassion I asked someone to volunteer to get the banners done, finally it was Prof.Jitendra who had to go to the artist and get he job done. The list is full of young people, only to count, and when it comes to work, they shamelessly get the job done by those who are 45+.
I have been saying that a small ftp site should be maintained with some of the useful resources. Someone maintained it for some time and then no one to take over.
As some one pointed out, the posting rules on the mailing list should be available on the mailing list, though they are posted to each and every member when they subscribed.
The list may go on like this ...
But the end, dont think that the group belongs to any one person, it belongs to the community, and all of us should feel responsible for this.
Our GLUG could be very active and productive. There are lot of things happening around Mumbai, please come forward and take some role, however small the role may be.
