Hi Noel,
Upgrade to rpm 3.0.6. That supports rpm 4 packages and doesn't require db3 libs.
To install rpm-4.0.1, you seem to be missing db3 libraries. I think www.sleepycat.com is the site for these libs.

is rpm-3.0.6-6xa.ppc.rpm good enough ? I am trying it anyway.
