AFA the hardware is concerned, I am sure there is no issue.
As per Arun's suggestion I have changed the driver. It seems the problem will go away. With old driver I noticed that there were large number of dropped packets in RX. with r8168 driver that count is zero so far.
I will know for sure if the issue is resolved after I reboot the system.
The driver is Ubuntu 8.04 was r8169
I downloaded RTL driver from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&...
and compiled installed the same on the system.
Thanks Arun for the pointer.
