The link given above contains instructions for installing ubuntu *to* a pen drive. You want to install ubuntu *from* a pen drive. Refer to these instructions from the official ubuntu installation guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/installation-guide/i386/boot-usb-files.html
BTW, I hope you have verified the checksum of the downloaded iso file.
