I have a query. Does the X server do antialiasing? Because whenever I try viewing the ps or pdf files the fonts are horribly rendered. And generally my X looks grubby. Is this a problem with any specific version of X? I have an accelerated (Mach64) server running with 32bit color depth. Also I have seen some GNU/Linux boxes with KDE 2 where the fonts were rendered properly. Is this the doing of KDE? I dont have KDE and
run
GNOME+Enlightenment/fwm.
Nope, X doesn't do antialiasing yet. I think it's in the works, somewhere. KDE does it in Konqueror, I think, but not everywhere else. Nautilus does it in it's views and Rasterman has some project underway that antialiases/shadows/translucents/whatever everything.
