But its still hell getting an average office user to convert. Particularly when she has tough time installing a simple Multifunction Device or sharing files with another PC.
Well from my personal experience it helps to target the top and then look at the trickle effect than bottom up. It takes a smart IT head to figure the huge cost savings a shift can result into. Besides looking at the goals for Ubuntu feisty fawn, this should seem less of a problem. Particularly the mobile user woes.
Also the new M$ Office 2007 suite takes Office Productivity apps and their integration a notch higher. OpenOffice has a lot of catching up to do.
True. It helps to maintain a complete OSS tool chain if possible. For many organizations particularly SMEs this is indeed possible.
