Software patents are not recognised in India and in many places in the EU too. It does not matter where the music comes from either as far as software patents are concerned. If you play an mp3 file in india or sell an mp3 codec you would not be breaking the law.
And there is no need to deliver a tech homily in a single email. A pointer to the blog is good enough.
