since my recent experience with 102 ggc motherboards has not been good with ubuntu, I will like to know names of some motherboards which are available in the market that can work or have been successfully made to work with ubuntu.
In my opinion, anything based on the Intel 945 chip-set should work out of the box. Take a look at the Intel D945PSN mother board. It supports the processors that you intend to use and should be very cheap now. I guess even the 950 or 965 chip-set ones would work fine too. The 102 GGC mother board doesn't run on an Intel chip set at all. May be that caused all those issues. Hope that helps,
