Hi,
Anybody installed GNU/Linux computers with M2/Cyrix/AMD cpu. Have you encountered any problems. A friend of mine has a M2 system and wants to install gnu/linux on it and wanted to know if there are any known problems since these are not Intel chips.
I run 2 Linux systems at home, whose config is:
1. Cyrix MII/233 CPU, 32 MB RAM, 20 GB HDD, SiS 6215 video card, Compex NE2000 PCI clone LAN card (RTL 8029 chip), RH 6.2 (off the PCQ CD) - working fine since early 2000
2. AMD K6-2/450 CPU, 64 MB RAM, 20 GB HDD, Trident AGP video card, AC97 sound (both on-board), Surecom NE2000 PCI clone LAN card (again RTL 8029 based), RH 7.1 - working fine since June of this year.
I do not think you ought to have any problems with either of these CPUs.
Rgds,
Krishnan
