I was going through this site www.laptopsmumbai.com Laptopsmumbai.com belongs to some dealer in mumbai who sells all brands of laptops IBM ,HP , ACER , COMPAQ, TOSHIBA & SONY and i saw all branded laptops . i Found out a few things
Most entry level laptops today come with linux pre-installed , atleast in acer and compaq . . It would be interesting to note that IBM even in its non- windows model doesnot endorse linux , instead it ships them with free dos . Toshiba and Sony still dont sell any laptops in India without Windows . Acer which ships almost all its laptops with Linux mentions on its own site www.acer.co.in under each model ' Acer recommends Windows Xp proffessional' contd......
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That is because of a prior agreement with MS. Almost no PC comes without an OS these days. There are some cos who peddling FreeDOS even!
Also, GNU/Linux comes pre-installed and GNU/Linux is supported are two different things.
