Hello All,
A friend of mine bought a branded pc with Vista installed. However no additional peripherals work as their drivers are not available in vista. I suggested that he install Linux in dual boot and he has agreed. I only want to know if Linux and Vista will live peacefully and boot from Grub. Does Vista have the same booting method as XP?

Dear Rony,
I've never tried it on a vista desktop, but i have had no issues with the same on vista laptops that i've installed on. just remember, take a backup of the MBR and Partition table via linux rescue mode first, if you want to be extra careful. Also, if it's a new system, i suggest you try out a 64 bit distro variant first, before you try a 32 bit variant. it'll give him a noticeable performance boost, and i'm sure he will enjoy the experience(remember to activate beryl and show him all the eye candy -- whip vista on his own *vista* system). If you have any issues, do feel free to get in touch with me off-list, and i can pass on a 64 bit fedora copy, and also help you with the install.
