you have a point . are we treating bandwidth like drinking water ? have we started abusing it ?
Not really. Its a free choice to use the net for any purpose as long as its not illegal. Even if we get 256 KBps unlimitted connections, we will still crave for 512, then 1 MBps, then 10 MBps. The ideal speed would be one where we can download an entire dvd within one second.
Rony even if u can download entire dvd in one second can you harddrive / writer or watever media you will store it in will be able to write it ? also it may need to buffer that 4.7 / 8.x gig into memory too :)
there is needs and wants. and that is something that i m trying to highlight by starting this thread. how much of our bandwidth usage is something that can be avoided. there is difference between being illegal and being wrong . eg staring at a girl maynot be illegal but it is certainly wrong. another example cud be downloading mp3 is not illegal in india yet but it is certainly wrong.
the problem that india and indians have faced is that we have taken our country / state / city infrastructure for granted . we think we are the most imp individuals on earth and we need all that service for free or extremely low cost.
somewhere we need to realise this and be judicious with our resources.
