Why work for money when you can work for love? Love of free software that is. There is nothing that stops you from hacking free software while you're in college. I did it, and many other guys did it. We made Rs.0 per month and it felt great. We also made hundreds of downloads a month, loads of contacts, got our names recognised and got a few thank yous, which IMO is worth far more than a 150K bank balance.
and looks good on your resume too - a very welcome side effect
