RPM tells you what packages need to be installed/updated.
At least paste the command you used and the output... otherwise its really shooting in the dark.
Hi all,
I haven't been posting for a long while. These update troubles prompted me to suggest this.
We all know that updating Red Hat Linux is a pain. rpm or rpmfind is just not ment to resolve dependencies in a nice fashion (which is albeit a complex task). Debian's apt is a very good tool. As many of you probably know it has been ported to rpm-based systems. See www.freshrpms.net for more info. This rpm-based apt requires a repository (*.os files) created as per the directory structure. I was wondering if anyone's interested in creating such a repository on ilug-bom ftp site for various *nice* packages / rpm distros that we all use. This will help new users as well as help create/debug better tool like apt for rpm-based systems.
Suggestions, cribes, flames all welcome... No holy wars please. I prefer to make my linux system as customizable, generic and convenient to use as possible, and I guess that's what most of us want.
Best regards,
Rajesh
