Hi guys,
I had set up my dad's laptop running Ubuntu to connect to Youtelecom broadband using pppoe. Everything has been running fine for many years and suddenly on Saturday it stopped working. It connects to the net and immediately disconnects. The Youtelecom support guys are unable to help as none of them know anything about linux and I'm on the other side of the world so unless he can actually connect to the Internet, there's nothing much I can do to debug the issue.
I wanted to know if anyone else is on youtelecom and has seen this problem in the last few days. Any suggestions will help.
Bumping this up since I haven't received any replies. Has anyone seen this problem before or alternately if anyone is based in Bandra West, can you help my dad out?
It is possible that the userid/password for your Dad's setup may have been changed on the YouTelecom side or your Dad's system may be b0rked.
I have installed openSUSE 11.1 at a local baniya shop (ISP - YouTelecom. The installer detected the cable modem connection; prompted me for the userid/password and started working w/o any hitch.
