Which is the best non intel PC config. any links would also be helpful. This PC will be used to run Linux predominantly
You have a wide selection out there. there are AMD based systems and then there are the mean Mac Machines. Which pretty much leaves you with AMD or AMD. Now that was just the processor motherboard part.
He asked for the best. It is non intel but that is stating the obvious. Apple - iMac G5. Ofcourse u have to be rich or seriously religious to buy one.
Depending on what your PC does. I personally would find a dual Opteron much more useful. Or maybe an UltraSparc, or an Alpha. Worst case, a Power processor.
Agreed. But would a Sparc or Alpha qualify as a PC. The Sparc arch has a reputation for unbelievable reliability. But then would be overkill sitting on a desk. I am planing on buying an Optetron single processor mobo- Tyan has some models which are highly recommended. The problem is 64bit pci cards at 133mhz. Cant find any here. Using regular pci cards will simply bring everthing to square one.
