I have used HP nx6110 laptop and it works out of the box with Debian etch and Ubuntu edgy GNU/Linux distros except for the wireless card which I had in it. It is a broadcom bcm43xx card. If you go for an Intel wireless card then there is no extra effort :)
Currently I am using HP nx6325 which is a AMD Turion X2 64 bit processor based laptop. There is some problem with installing Flash9 plugin for firefox in this since we dont have Flash9 available for 64 bit yet. Except for that everything works fine in it. Again get an Intel wireless card :)
