I'm working on translating strings in a Perl script from English to Italian using the WWW::Babelfish module. While the script is a no-brainer, I've been stumped by the reliability of the module.
For most of the last three days, it gave no output for strings beyond a certain length (that I can say was around 25 characters). Admittedly, its author claims it is for "fun"; but he also mentions that it broke input to the Babelfish service into chunks of 1000 characters, so my sting length shouldn't be a problem. I 've been tasked to make a script that will translate a set of strings from one language to another, reliably. When I tested the script from home, it didn't work yesterday either, but then it worked right now.
Any hints/clues would be welcome. If anyone wants to look at the code, please let me know so I can mail it to you off-list.
