I've never used a PPPoE connection but logically it follows that if you setup the DNS manually then it shouldnt get changed. In the NIC settings, dont click "automatically obtain DNS infromation from the provider". This is fedora core 2. I am not sure about Ubuntu 6.06 LTS.
This is the dialog that comes up in 'pppoeconf' :
"Normally your provider sends you addresses of useable servers when the connection is established. Would you like to add these addresses automatically to the list of nameservers in your local /etc/resolv.conf file? (recommended)"
I answered "NO" here, but it doesn't help.
I notice that it mentions that it'll _add_ the DNS servers to /etc/resolv.conf. Then why do my modifications to the same file keep getting discarded? It should just "add" to the list, right?
