<quote_from_article> The Linux version of VTune, available in February, lags its Windows cousin in some ways. The Windows version has a graphical interface, works with more versions of Linux, and can monitor software running on Itanium processors. The Linux version will support Itanium computers later this year </quote_from_article>
It seems to me a really stupid idea that we need Vtune running on windows to monitor Linux boxes. (another use for windows?? eh). Also what surprises me is that the windows version works with more **versions** (I believe the author means distros rather than versions, the rest of the article supports this hypothesis). Makes me wonder -- Is this some kind of a marketing tactic that Intel is following?? Morever the Linux port of the software works on RH only and "they are planning a test" for Suse.
