What about customising the Kernel and a distribution to work on Low end (read obsolete) PC's like P-100s ? These machines are available very cheaply and if they can be made available to poorer Schools... If companies could be contacted and convinced to denote their obsolete stuff for the cause... in any case most of the times old things are sold for scrap.
