Dear Luggerz.....
This is what our agenda seems to be...each of the points have to be understood by all and frozen...Ppl, please come forward and take responsibility for a couple of these.... a. We need coverage in the technical press. I see the following magazines where I think we should feature..info about this movement, the people involved, the processes, the kind of projects. I vote each of us target a couple of magazines and speak to its editor about what we are trying to achieve with this. I will work on Network Computing and Chip magazine. A few others that the other luggerz need to take on are..Developer Magazine, Express Computing, PC Quest..maybe even Times of India..any other ideas.guyz..
b. We need to be present at some high-profile technology events..maybe as a speaker on GNU, GPL, or just about the Project Resource Center. We also ought to start talking about technology topics-and identifying ourselves as members of the ILUG Project Resource Center(ILUG-PRC)..this will put some highlight on the PRC. Can someone take the responsibility of finding out what events are coming up? Nasscom may be a good source of such information. Please guys..Do cooperate with us on this one.......
c. We need to do a survey of what is a valid project..the feedback form is a good idea, trevor. Some of us need to go to each of our target institutions and speak to the students there and the professors/teachers. Who will be part of this team..People.. please come forward.
d. Since I think at least a few students from such institutions would already be members of the ILUG, they should come forward and be the ambassadors of the ILUG in their institutions. Vishal.can u do this in NCST?.Guys.calling the rest of u once again.
e. So far we seem to have a very small PRC team.4-5 chaps only....Cmon guys we need to do better than this.
f. We need to do a survey of 30-50 companies and find out what is the kind of projects, they could use in a real IT environment. Apart from the Project list, we should be creating a target company list by the side.
g. We need a list of questions to ask these companies.does anyone want to do this?
h. We need to have the collaborative platform up..Trevor and Amol..u guys seem most capable to do this.will you take this up and see it through to the finish.
i. We need more projects to offer.and mentors for those projects as well..We are doing quite pathetically on this front..Ultimately this is the core of the PRC and we need to pull up our socks on this if we are to get anywhere.
j. Roles and Responsibilities - From what I can gather, we have eight distinct roles here.
i. Collaborative Platform Administrator
ii. Student Representatives in each institution
iii. The guys who talk to the commercial companies
iv. The guys who will co-ordinate the Image buidling process
v. MENTOR - we need to decide who will qualify as a mentor..since he will be responsible for project quality..guys any ideas..
vi. STUDENT - they make the projects..
vii. Maybe an independent QC process for the software..again we need to decide who will qualify.
viii. Other roles which I cannot foresee at the moment.
Probably initially everyone may have to do everything..till we get more people involved.
Well, thatz all I cud think of for now..pls do give us some feedback here.
