hi, if i didn't misunderstood ur mail, its very simple. all u need to keep a track of configurations files needed to modify,or start a service. for example if u want to configure or start, restart ftp.just take care of the file /etc/xinetd.d/wuftpd and the command /etc/init.d/xinetd [start|restart|stop] similarly there exists configuration files for each and every service. i don't think it wd be a good final yr project as u really won't have to do nything.but if u r planning to make new softwares like ncftpd etc,its gr8.

Hi all,
I am interested in developing an utility which is similar to the linuxconf or the Mandrake Control Center. I am doing it as my final year project. I want the utility to start, stop, restart, and install the variour services(ftp, telent, dns....).
For this is it necessary to use intermediate repository to store the configuration parameters.
I am a new linux user, just started it a vew days back.
Please help me, how to start about.
Thanks in advance,
prabhu
