Read my previous mail again..
An empty directory with a lost+found is generally seen for an empty partition.. perhaps the /home that you see from mandriva and the one you see from knoppix are different..
Compare the output of the "mount" and "df -h" command.. in both cases.
I can't now,coz I deleted my partitions and remade them, thus destroying any possible rootkits.

/home folder does not need special root privileges to read. Why did you not see the /home files as Mandriva's root? Knoppix root can read files of normally working distros. If you had a bad installation there is a good possibility that your file system is corrupted. If you are using a separate home partition, is it exclusively used for Mandriva or did you use it for another distro too? Try doing a clean install by formating all your partitions needed for Mandriva. As far as installation is concerned Mandriva installs flawlessly. If your copy of media is bad, get another one. If you can't get another one, let me know.
1st Question:I don't know.I am a newbie, remember? 2nd Q:My home partition is exclusively Mandriva's. The clean install is already done.....will try to get another media to make sure whether it's the media or something else....
